Ok another update..
we arrived in Vientiane in the evening and after setting our bags down in our very nice hotel (posh backpackers :)) we headed out for a bite to eat and a beer! We had a look round the night market and after a few wrong turns made our way back home.
After a bit of a lie in after all the travelling from the day before we got up and decided to go look at the temples and monuments they have everywhere here. We paid our tuk tuk driver £7 each to take us 45mins away to 'Buddha Park', wait for us for an hour and take us back :) cheap cheap!!
Buddha Park was actually pretty cool as far as statues go!! about a hundred of these statues all shapes and sizes in a small park and one HUGE one in the middle! (u will see what i mean by the pics) we then stopped at another couple of temples (Golden Temple, and a few others) and see the monks and stuff but by the end of the day we were well and truely templed out! dont get me wrong they are pretty amazing but once you've seen one or two they are all much of a muchness!
Anyway our second and last night here we googled a nice place to go and eat some local food so set off for 'Full Moon Cafe'. A tuk tuk driver picked us up when we were already half way there and literally had to drive 2 mins around the corner but he obviosuly didnt know where he was going, kept stopping at the wrong place and an hour later we were in the middle of nowhere at the wrong restaurant! we were so hungry (and cold) by now that we got out and gave him the money we had agreed on (10,000 kip(£1) but he went mad and asked for more!! I gave him another 10,000 kip but he still wasnt happy and made a big scene in the restaurant! It turns out people here in Vientiane dont speak hardly any english which makes it VERY hard to communicate and after a battle we paid him some money and he left! But now we had both tables next to us starring at us and realised we had walked into a restaurant where we were the only 'foreigners'. The menu was only written in Laos and the men were creeps!haha. We managed to order some food and then asked where we grabbed a taxi from...we got laughed at "no taxi round here now". Great!! so off we set on a 2km walk into the weird and wonderful world of laos! Anyway after that nightmare night we got home safely and were looking forward to moving on from this place.
One thing I loved about Vientiane was the chocolate croissants in the Scandinavian Bakery!wow!!! and the bread here tastes normal and not like cake :) ...I think I might end up putting on a few pounds here.
The next day we set off on a 3 hour minibus trip to Vang Vieng where they do the tubing! Lets hope this place is better than the last..!!
